2 in 1 APM in Agricultural Pump Control Panels

Overview:

Agricultural motor-pump set find prominent application in irrigation of farmlands, though many times we fail to notice its importance. Water pumps are installed to provide water to crops either using sprinkler system or flood watering scheme. They are available in a range of different sizes, designs and technical features like its capacity of throwing water, power and efficiency. It is vital to control and monitor water flow and level which can be achieved by controlling pumps. Simple on-off or advanced functions like speed control, change of rotational direction and protection from electrical faults can be included in the control scheme of agricultural pumps.

The entire control system i.e. combination of level and flow indicators, electrical meters (voltmeter and ammeter), switch-gear and protection devices are installed in a control panel called Agricultural pump control panel. Such control panels are installed in open farm areas and should be able to sustain within critical atmospheric conditions like high temperature and moist weather.

The components of these panels must be designed with robustness order to survive such conditions and offer efficient working.

Problem Statement:

As these panels are installed in farmlands, space allotted for its installation is limited. Wherein manufacturer of agricultural pump control panel needs to design and manufacture panels considering constraints in space and provide a low-cost solution, affordable for farmers.

Present Scenario:

Analog panel meters used are generally for measuring voltage and current of motor-pump set. For this, individual meters were installed that occupy more space and increase the cost of manufacturing. Considering all the above factors like proper space utilization, minimum components - a cost -effective solution was proposed. We suggested a combination of voltmeter and ammeter in a single enclosure i.e. a 2 in 1 analog panel meter, capable of reading out both voltage and current parameters at the same time in a single meter.

Applications:

The same can be implemented in a number of applications where proper space utilization is a predominant factor. Areas like outdoor substation, railway mimic panels, control stations and machine tool panels can be highly benefited from 2 in 1 analog panel meter in terms of low - cost solution.
